Natalia Herrera
Natalia Herrera is a Records Specialist at James Immigration Law. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, she earned her law degree from the Externado University of Colombia. Ms. Herrera brings experience in criminal law and human rights, is fluent in both Spanish and English, and has conversational proficiency in French. She is passionate about immigration law, inspired by its power to reunite families and create opportunities for a better future in the United States.

Ana Mercado
Ana Mercado is the T Visa Supervisor at James Immigration Law. Born and raised in Montería, Colombia, she moved to Barranquilla to study and graduated as a Psychologist from Universidad del Norte in 2022. She later earned a Master’s in Legal and Forensic Psychology from Universidad CES in Medellín in 2024.
Ana has worked on projects supporting women who were victims of domestic violence and completed an internship at the Fiscalía General de la Nación, where she assisted children who were victims of sexual abuse. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
She joined the T Visa team as a case manager in 2023, quickly forming a strong connection to immigration work and the clients she served. Her dedication and passion led to her promotion to Supervisor, where she now supports and mentors her team as they assist individuals who have experienced significant trauma.
Drawing on her background, Ana is committed to compassionate, client-centered advocacy, ensuring both her team and the people they serve feel empowered and supported.

Juan Felipe Avendaño Velasco
Juan Felipe Avendaño Velasco is the Supervisor of a T Visa team at James Immigration Law, where he applies his legal experience and leadership skills to support the firm’s mission of transforming the lives of immigrants through humanitarian relief. He holds a Law Degree from UMNG in Colombia, with additional legal studies at BUAP in Mexico and UFLA in Brazil. He is fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
He has professional experience in various areas of Colombian and U.S. law, having worked with international organizations, private sector entities, and multiple U.S.-based immigration firms. His passion for immigration law began at a young age, sparked by academic exchange opportunities. Later, his work with a United Nations agency, the ILO, in collaboration with UNHCR, strengthened his interest in humanitarian protection and guided him into the immigration field in the United States.
Throughout his career, he has contributed to intake and sales, onboarding, documentation, case assembly, legal drafting, research, quality review, team leadership, and internal process development.
Juan Felipe believes that James Immigration Law aligns closely with his personal and professional purpose. He is driven by empathy, high ethical standards, and a deep commitment to delivering strong legal advocacy that honors the stories, dreams, and dignity of every client he serves.

Juanita Estrada
Juanita Estrada is a Supervisor at James Immigration Law and a key member of the Removal Defense Team. Born and raised in Medellín, Ms. Estrada studied law at the University of Medellín, where she earned her degree in criminal law. Her legal career began in the district attorney’s office, and she later gained valuable experience working as a paralegal in the criminal department of another law firm before joining our team.
Ms. Estrada is passionate about helping others and is always willing to lend a hand. She thrives on combining her background in criminal law with her work in immigration law to better serve her clients. She has a strong passion for leadership and is dedicated to guiding and supporting her team. Her eagerness to keep learning fuels her interest in all areas of law.

Andres Beltran
Andres Beltran is the Family Team Supervisor at James Immigration Law, where she leads case management and oversees complex family-based immigration matters. Her role centers on ensuring each case is prepared with precision while offering clients the guidance and support they need during important life transitions.
She holds a Law degree with a specialization in Contracts and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Corporate Law at Universidad del Rosario. With over two years of experience in U.S. immigration law, she has served as a Legal Assistant and Paralegal in both humanitarian and family-based cases. Her background includes humanitarian matters such as T visas, U visas, and VAWA, as well as family-based processes like Adjustment of Status (AOS), N-400, and I-90 applications.
Originally from Colombia, she was drawn to immigration law out of a commitment to helping individuals and families navigate life-changing legal processes. A former professional basketball referee, she strengthened her decision-making under pressure and deepened her commitment to fairness and integrity.

Kirsten Buell
Kirsten Buell is a Case Manager at James Immigration Law, where she supports clients in deportation proceedings by preparing legal documents, managing case files, and assisting attorneys throughout the process. She ensures clients receive clear communication and compassionate guidance during difficult times.
Originally from Miami, Kirsten earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Criminology and Sociology from the University of South Florida and later graduated from law school, deepening her understanding of the legal system and justice.
Her connection to immigration law is personal—her mother immigrated from Nicaragua, fleeing political persecution and becoming a U.S. citizen. That experience fuels Kirsten’s passion for immigrant advocacy.

Catalina Sanz
Catalina is a Legal Assistant at James Immigration Law, where she supports clients in humanitarian and removal defense processes with compassion, precision, and a deep understanding of complex immigration matters.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and Political Studies from Universidad Militar Nueva Granada in Colombia, along with a postgraduate specialization in Senior Management in Security and Defense. Catalina has extensive experience in human rights, forced displacement, and armed conflict, and has worked as a caseworker focused on deportation defense and humanitarian relief in the United States.
Since childhood, Catalina has felt a deep concern for underserved communities, which shaped her lifelong commitment to justice and human dignity. Her professional career is not just a vocation, but her life’s project—through which she hopes to contribute meaningfully to the world by applying her knowledge and experience in service of others.

Elizabeth Guevara
Elizabeth is a dedicated Counselor Process Case Manager at James Immigration Law, where she supports clients and attorneys through each stage of the immigration process. With a strong attention to detail and a compassionate approach, she ensures every case is managed with care and professionalism. Elizabeth earned her degree in Political Science from the University of South Florida and has several years of hands-on experience in immigration law. Her background includes direct client support, case preparation, and navigating complex legal procedures, all of which contribute to her effectiveness in her current role. As the daughter of immigrants from Puebla, Mexico, Elizabeth’s commitment to immigration work is deeply rooted in her family’s journey. Isabella Garzon
Isabella Garzón is a Document Specialist at the firm, where she connects with clients to organize the basic and essential documents needed for their case. She is an attorney graduated from the Universidad Autónoma Latinoamericana and has extensive experience working in the administrative field for U.S.-based companies.
Isabella is passionate about helping others and firmly believes that every time she offers support, she is helping change someone’s world. Her work is guided by empathy, transparency, and a strong sense of justice. She loves speaking with clients, hearing their stories, and making them feel valued—convinced that active listening is what makes clients feel truly important at our firm.
