She is a licensed attorney in Colombia, specializing in journalism and public opinion. Her experience in public international law—focused on human rights, international humanitarian law, refugee protection, and migration—has been strengthened at institutions such as the World Bank, the IOM, Migración Colombia, the Colombian Embassy in Norway, and the International Center for Justice in Geneva. Laura joined the private sector to get closer to the human stories behind humanitarian immigration cases. She believes in a law that uplifts the most vulnerable and applies her legal expertise and global vision with empathy, purpose, and dedication.

Sofia Mejia is a Declaration Specialist at James Immigration Law, where she writes affidavits, reporting letters, and briefs, and reviews final portfolios for clients pursuing T visas.
