Akshita Patel
Akshita Patel is the Senior Attorney at James Immigration Law, where she reviews clients’ stories to help craft the most effective legal strategy tailored to their unique needs. She provides not only legal knowledge, but clarity, direction, and deep empathy drawn from her own experience immigrating from Chingola, Zambia to the U.S. at age 12—a process that took over a decade to gain permanent residency.
Akshita earned her J.D. from the University of Akron School of Law in 2016. She began practicing immigration law in 2015, founding her own firm focused on removal defense and Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) cases. After merging her firm, she broadened her practice to include employment-based and humanitarian immigration and now mentors attorneys, particularly in handling T visa cases.
Fluent in Spanish, Hindi, Gujarati, and Urdu, Akshita connects with a wide range of clients in their own language. She is proud to be part of a team that delivers compassionate, high-quality advocacy, and believes in making immigration support accessible and personal.

Maria Batres
Maria J. Batres is an Intake Attorney at James Immigration Law, where she assesses client leads during consultations to determine the best strategy for obtaining lawful immigration status in the U.S. She provides clear, compassionate guidance in an honest and supportive environment.
Maria earned her law degree from Georgia State University College of Law in 2011 and has spent most of her career practicing immigration law, focusing on removal defense and family-based and humanitarian options. She also served six years as a prosecutor in Atlanta, advocating for victims of crime, and spent 12 years as an educator, sharpening her ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity and empathy.
The daughter of Guatemalan immigrants, Maria’s personal connection to immigration inspires her passion for supporting individuals and families navigating complex legal systems. She is proud to work with a team that values the strength and diversity immigrants bring to the U.S., driven by justice, empathy, and respect.

Yeimira Henao
Yeimira Henao is the Intake Manager at James Immigration Law, where she leads a dedicated team of more than 30 professionals committed to uncovering and preserving the stories that become the foundation of legal immigration pathways. With three years of experience in immigration and five years in sales, she brings empathy and efficiency to every client interaction.Born and raised in Medellin, Colombia, Yeimira holds a diploma in Sales and Commercial Management from Politécnico de Colombia and is currently pursuing a degree in Audiovisual Communication at Politécnico Colombiano Jaime Isaza Cadavid. She also earned a certificate in Digital Marketing from Coderhouse.Her passion for storytelling, originally fueled through screenwriting and filmmaking, found a deeper purpose in the field of immigration, where every narrative can lead to life-changing results.Yeimira believes James Immigration Law stands out for its commitment to justice and learning. Miguel Torres
Miguel Torres is a Supervisor Intake Specialists at James Immigration Law. He was born and raised in Medellin, Colombia. Mr. Torres has a bachelor’s degree in business management from CES University, a Postgraduate in marketing management at CEIPA powered by Arizona State University and a Master in Commercial Planning at EIG in Spain. He also had an exchange experience at Budapest Business University in Hungary, where he learned about intercultural communication and leadership. He is fluent in Spanish and English and Portuguese. Mr. Torres is passionate about helping people obtain their goals by guiding them down the right path to change.

Sara Sanchez
Sara is a Supervisor Intake Specialists at James Immigration Law. Was born and raised in Medellín, Colombia. She studied law out of a deep passion for helping others, and her work has always focused on making a positive impact.

She holds an associate's degree in paralegal studies and a bachelor's in legal studies. With over a decade of experience, Maria understands the challenges of immigration and uses her knowledge to support the firm’s mission of keeping families together and offering life-changing solutions with honesty and compassion.
The daughter of Cuban immigrants who fled persecution, Maria deeply understands the struggles of clients. She applies strong empathy to listen to and understand their stories, believing everyone deserves to feel heard. She is especially passionate about working with survivors of human trafficking, offering a safe environment to process their trauma and reminding them they are defined not by their struggles, but by their strength.

Sara Rojas
Sara Rojas is a Legal Intake Specialist at the firm, was born in Colombia and has a professional degree in international relations with a specialization in government, management and public affairs. In her professional experience she has worked in peace processes, in social and humanitarian projects and in governmental administration projects, which has given her great experience in the field of social work. During her professional development Sara has found in humanitarian work a strong connection with her personal values and principles. She considers that the work that allows her to help others is not only a way to make a living but also a way to contribute as a human being to a better society. Melisa Baez
Melisa Baez is a Legal Intake Specialist at James Immigration Law. She conducts legal consultations to identify the best strategy to help our clients achieve their dream of living legally in the United States. She has a degree in Psychology from the National University of Colombia. Her experience as a mental health psychologist has shaped her strong listening skills and deep sense of empathy, which allows her to truly understand each individual's needs and promote their well-being.

Her passion for helping comes from her dual vocation as a psychologist and legal specialist.
