Brittanie James

CEO & Founding Attorney

An attorney who advocates with excellence, empathy, and purpose.

Brittanie James is the Founding Attorney and Chief Executive Officer of James Immigration Law. A Board Certified Specialist in Immigration and Nationality Law by The Florida Bar, she combines solid legal strategy with a deep human calling: to restore dignity and hope for people facing one of the most complex and challenging systems.

For Brittanie, immigration law is not just a legal practice: it’s a personal and meaningful commitment.

Her passion was born early, during a high school internship, when she witnessed firsthand the injustices of the immigration system and the pain of watching a child being separated from their mother through an immigration process. In that moment, she understood that she wanted to dedicate her life to using the law as a tool to protect families, reunite them, and defend their rights.

Today, Brittanie is one of only 79 Board Certified immigration attorneys in the entire state of Florida, and the only one with this certification in Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, Okeechobee, and Brevard counties. Her leadership has made James Immigration Law a benchmark of excellence, integrity, and humanity.

Education and Experience

Brittanie earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami in 2009 and her law degree (J.D., cum laude) from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles in 2011.

Before founding James Immigration Law, she gained experience at both one of the country’s largest corporate immigration firms and in boutique private practice. This combination allows her to offer a comprehensive approach: strategic, compassionate, and results-oriented, without losing sight of the person behind each case.

She is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and a recognized leader within the legal and immigrant community.

Client Approach

Act with honesty

Communicate with clarity

Listen with empathy

Brittanie firmly believes in never creating false expectations. Her approach is based on telling the truth with clarity and transparency, even when the path is difficult.

For her, true empathy is only possible when built on honesty. People already carry enough uncertainty, injustice, and stress; her responsibility as an attorney is to explain the process clearly, empower clients with real information, and accompany them with respect and humanity.

Her core values guide every decision: honesty, empathy, transparency, and empowerment.

Her Greatest Motivation

"Keeping families together and changing lives"

What fulfills Brittanie most is accompanying families through their immigration journey and witnessing the moment when, after years of struggle, they finally achieve their dream. Being witness to how their lives change—from uncertainty to stability, from fear to hope—is a privilege she doesn’t take for granted.

Each case represents a story, a sacrifice, and an opportunity to contribute something meaningful.

Behind every case is a family, and that's what guides every decision we make.

Community Commitment

Brittanie loves being close to the community and learning the stories of the people she serves.

Through James Immigration Law, she drives and actively participates in free workshops on immigration rights at schools and local communities. Additionally, the firm sponsors and participates in Latino festivals, community celebrations, and cultural events, such as Christmas posadas and special celebrations alongside organizations like The Farmworker Association and local schools.

Her commitment goes beyond the desk: it includes donations, educational outreach, and a constant presence where information and support are needed most.

Something Few People Know

Brittanie understands firsthand what it means to live through situations of abuse.

That personal experience allows her to approach VAWA and T Visa cases with deep and authentic sensitivity. She understands how difficult it can be to recognize yourself as a victim, accept the situation, and find the strength to move forward. That’s why these cases hold an especially important place in her practice.
