Akshita Patel is a Senior Attorney at James Immigration Law. She combines solid legal strategy with genuine empathy, clarity, and honesty to help immigrant families move forward with confidence.
She immigrated from Chingola, Zambia, to the United States at age 12. Her own immigration process took more than a decade, profoundly shaping her life and professional calling.
That personal experience defines her approach as an attorney. Akshita doesn’t just analyze cases: she listens to stories, understands the daily challenges of living without status, and designs legal strategies adapted to each client’s reality.
She speaks Spanish, Hindi, Gujarati, Urdu, and English, which allows her to connect with clients in their own language and create a space of trust from the very first conversation.
Akshita has exclusive experience in immigration law since 2015. She earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 2016 from the University of Akron School of Law.
She began her career by founding her own law firm, focused on deportation defense and Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) cases. After merging her practice, she expanded her experience to include employment-based immigration, humanitarian cases, and T visas, an area in which she also mentors other attorneys.
She is licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of Ohio and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and is an active member of AILA, the Federal Bar Association, and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.
For Akshita, every case begins by listening to the client’s complete story and understanding what they truly need. Her practice is guided by ethics, transparency, and a commitment not to create false expectations.

Outside of work, Akshita enjoys traveling, experiencing new cultures, cooking, walking outdoors, and spending time with her two dogs. She speaks five languages and was born in Zambia, something that surprises many people.
